About Pepper and Carrot

Pepper&Carrot is a free fantasy comic by French artist David Revoy, posted online as a webcomic since May 2014 and printed in book form in France by the publisher Glénat from 2016. It follows Pepper, a young orphan witch at Chaosah, the smallest of the six schools of magic on the planet Hereva, who is helped by her cat Carrot and lives with her mentors Thyme, Cayenne and Cumin. Revoy describes it as a humor webcomic for every age, with no mature content and no violence, and he aims for each episode to hold a small story arc in which a character evolves and learns.

Episodes 1 to 30 appeared between May 2014 and September 2019, and the official credits name Revoy for both the art and the scenario of each one. He makes the series with free software such as Krita, Blender and Inkscape, and releases it under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, which allows reuse, including commercial use. The work is funded by patrons, with no paywall, and Glénat itself joined as a patron, with the license as its only contract.

Volunteers translate the episodes, and the comic is fully or mostly translated into 28 languages. The Morevna Project turned episode 6, The Potion Contest, into a motion comic released in June 2017.

On LiveComics, every issue here plays panel by panel, with each line voiced by a full cast, plus sound effects and a score.
