A free comic reader for Windows 11 and any PC

To read comics on a Windows PC, get the free Live Comics app from the Microsoft Store, or open livecomics.to in Edge, Chrome or Firefox, and drag your CBR, CBZ or PDF files onto your library. Each issue reads as whole pages, one panel at a time, or read aloud with sound, and the keyboard moves you through it. A free account holds your comics with no card, and your place follows you to your phone.

How do I set it up on Windows?

  1. Get Live Comics from the Microsoft Store, or open livecomics.to in Edge, Chrome or Firefox. The Store app is the same reader in a window of its own.
  2. Make a free account, or sign in to the one you have. No card needed.
  3. Drag your comics from File Explorer onto your library, or click + Add Comics and pick them. You can add several at once.
  4. Choose Pages only, Panel view or Voiced, then press Add. The issue lands on your shelf, ready to read.

Live Comics in the Microsoft Store

The Store app runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, including PCs with Arm chips. It opens comics you add inside it, not files you double-click in File Explorer.

Is there a Windows app?

Yes. Live Comics is free in the Microsoft Store. It is the same reader as livecomics.to in a window of its own, with its own place in the Start menu, and it stays current by itself, so there is nothing to update.

Can I read comics with the keyboard?

Yes. The right and left arrow keys move through the comic, P switches between panels and whole pages, and Space plays and pauses a voiced issue. On a big screen a whole page fits at once, and Panel view brings one panel up to fill the window when you want it close.

Is there a comic reader for Windows that reads aloud?

Yes. Choose Voiced when you add an issue and every speech balloon is read in order by two synthetic narrators matched to each speaker, with sound effects and a score, while the panels turn on their own and subtitles show each line as it is spoken. Full cast, where every main character gets their own voice, is a paid upgrade. Every issue on the free streaming shelf is voiced already, free to stream with a free account.

Does my place follow me to my other devices?

Yes. Your library, shelves and reading place belong to your account, not to one device, so an issue you start here opens where you left off on any other screen you sign in on: the iPhone and iPad app, the Android app, the Windows app or a web browser.

What does it cost?

Reading is free. A free account holds 1 GB, about 20 issues, and imports 30 comics a month, with no card. Pages only and Panel view, which shows one panel at a time framed to fill the screen, are free on every issue. Voiced is priced per issue in credits, and you see the price before you press Add.
